ASCII Art with Python

Introduction

Date of project: 2026.03.02

Took me some time to write this down. Wasn't sure whether I wrote this with a tutorial approach or just presenting, so I went with just presenting, a little bit of code but only to explain a little bit.

What got me interested:

With all honest, I just randomly started remembering about ASCII arts for no reason. But I wanted to give it a shot because I had a feeling it wasn't as hard as I thought it'd be... and the best way to do something, is to start it.

The idea of the project:

The idea of the project was to pick an image of my choice and transform it into one of those ASCII arts you may see! What I expected was that the idea was more difficult to do than I at first thought.

The result:

The result of the project was that I could use an image to turn into ASCII and display it on the console. But not only, I could obtain it in the original Black & White, but also with colors!

Oh yes, and a video player too that I made as bonus because the first two results really made me happy. ^^'

I suck at writing, I might republish the text again sometime soon, but I really wanted to push some updates along too... I'm sorry.
